ODO becomes ACCOBAMS Partner

ACCOBAMS webOceanomare Delphis Onlus becomes Partner of ACCOBAMS - the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area - signed by 29 States (including 6 non-parties), and which this year celebrates its 20th year of activity.  




Results - Workshop on Common dolphin


Oceanomare Delphis Onlus – not for profit organisation since 1998 for the study and conservation of cetaceans in the Mediterranean Sea - together with the Biological Conservation Research Foundation (BICREF, Malta) and OceanCare (Switzerland) - promoted the 1st International Workshop on Common dolphin in the Mediterranean.  

The Workshop aimed at promoting a greater participation to the international dialogue and knowledge exchange on the Common dolphin in the Mediterreanan Sea, with a view to integrate the different scientific efforts and find new mechanism to strenghten the cooperation for the knowledge and conservation of the species, at local, national and international level.

The 60+ sightings of 4 different cetacean species, the reappearance of “old friends” and the census of a new social unit of sperm whales have made the 2015 Ischia Dolphin Project (IDP) campaign full of great satisfaction and…. lots of work for our researchers and volunteers!

Nature, Art and Culture the highlights of the success of Festa degli Amici di ODO, which – on last 12 December at Marine Village in Rome - gathered numerous lovers of the sea, of dolphins and whales, in the name of their conservation. 



Unicredit for ODO


We are very happy to announce that, for the second year, Unicredit has decided to support ODO for the purchase of equipment for the project ‘Delfini Capitolini’.

With the funds available within Carta Etica framework, Unicredit helps our researchers to study bottlenose dolphins inhabiting the coasts of Rome, in the sea area facing Fiumicino, Ostia and Torvajanica, within the Protected Marine Area known as Secche di Tor Paterno. 


British Council in Ischia

 Following a day at the British Council in Naples, during which ODO presented the world of cetaceans and the monitoring and research activities for their conservation in the Mediterranean Sea, a “writing competition” took place among the 100 students participating in the event. Students were asked to write about their ideas to contribute to the safeguard of cetaceans in our seas. The prize for the best three compositions was to experience “being a researcher for a day” on board of our lab vessel in the sea of Ischia, in the search for dolphins and whales. 


Chartered Accountants Group of Naples for ODO



Last 29th July the Chartered Accountants Group of Naples celebrated the end of their professional year with the 2015 edition of the Summer Party. This year the Group wished to appoint Oceanomare Delphis as beneficiary, devolving part of the funds raised in the evening. 



Strarimini 2015 becomes Run For Dolphins


This year Oceanomare Delphis Onlus has decided to put on shorts and trainers for the defense of its Sea. During last 17 May, Strarimini 2015 became Run for Dolphins, an awareness event for the protection of whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean waters. Thanks to the happy collaboration with Roberto Pezzi, president of Asd Celle Pecore Nere, the traditional running race Strarimini – which for more than thirty years has brought to Rimini thousands of passionate runners – has opened its doors to ODO, getting on the forefront of the safeguard of marine mammals in our sea.


New Monitoring in Giglio Island



CIBM (Interuniversity Consortium of Marine Biology and Applied Ecology) in collaboration with the Environmental Biology Department of Rome University “La Sapienza” has appointed ODO to conduct marine mammals monitoring activities in Giglio Island, within the “Costa Remediation Project” .

Our President Daniela Silvia Pace opened the 5th Workshop of SIBM (Italian Society of Marine Biology) Cetaceans Group, during the 46th Congress of the Italian Marine Biology the 12th of June at CNR in Rome.
