Strarimini 2015 becomes Run For Dolphins

This year Oceanomare Delphis Onlus has decided to put on shorts and trainers for the defense of its Sea. During last 17 May, Strarimini 2015 became Run for Dolphins, an awareness event for the protection of whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean waters. Thanks to the happy collaboration with Roberto Pezzi, president of Asd Celle Pecore Nere, the traditional running race Strarimini – which for more than thirty years has brought to Rimini thousands of passionate runners – has opened its doors to ODO, getting on the forefront of the safeguard of marine mammals in our sea.

“It was a wonderful and sunny day, and Run for Dolphins was the incitement for the runners at the start and end of the official half marathon. Truth is, it was the Strarimini Baby the real event of the day! With their happy chatter, many groups of kids were all over the city, and wearing their little ODO green shirts, they made the dolphins run!” Those were the excited words of Raffaella Tizzi, ODO Secretary General and promoter of the event. “This year the involvement of the schools was phenomenal, registering more than 1500 students including 7 kindergartens, 3 elementaries, and Einstein High School – which by itself brought 170 kids. And with them, their parents, brothers and sisters, dogs included, to reach the total number of 5000 participants. Beyond the festive feeling, I strongly believe that awareness initiatives associated with sport such as Run for Dolphins are extremely successful as the participants are the real protagonists at the forefront the cause”.

So next year Rimini… here we come! Meanwhile, in defense of our sea we are already planning new running initiatives in Rome (we have been in touch with the organisers of the famous 30km del Mare in Ostia), and in Alessandria, with athletes and baby runners ready to….. run for dolphins!!!!
