Non profit organization dedicated to the conservation of cetaceans in the Mediterranean

We gather data on behavioural ecology and acoustics of cetaceans. Currently, available databases hold information on their distribution, movements in the environment, groups’ sizes and compositions, behaviours and acoustics data.

We publish our findings in national and international scientific journals, congress papers, specialized periodicals, and technical-scientific reports commissioned by international associations.

Oceanomare Delphis combines scientific research in the field with priority objectives such as education and conservation and aggregates organizations, groups and individuals linked by a common interest in cetaceans and the marine environment, to influence institutions to take concrete action against the extinction and destruction of natural ecosystems caused by man.

Since 2015, Oceanomare Delphis collaborates with CIBRA (Interdisciplinary Center for Bioacoustics and Environmental Research) of the University of Pavia to develop Marine Mammal Monitoring and Mitigation plans, to perform cetaceans’ monitoring in the field, analysis and reports.

Since 2016, ODO is a partner of ACCOBAMS, the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area.
